Crazy Horse Campgrounds is experiencing significant operational challenges, including frequent power outages, poor communication, and unresponsive staff. While some reviewers appreciate the location and occasional helpful gate attendants, widespread concerns regarding infrastructure maintenance, customer service, and utility issues suggest a concerning lack of investment and management. Recent reviews indicate a steep decline in guest satisfaction.
i’ve been going to Crazy Horse for 48 years. As much as Angela, the manager is a sweetheart it’s clear the owner isn’t willing to invest the money this place needs. In my mind It’s All location. The power went out no less than five times this weekend. One of the bathrooms was being renovated. The epoxy they did in the restroom that worked was actually very slippery. The pool looks nicer now that it’s been resurfaced. The worst thing about the places it’s probably the original Asphalt. At this point it’s almost too rough for a golf cart.
GO TO ISLANDER RV PARK INSTEAD!!! Crazy horse doesnt answer their phones. They dont return emails. Decided to go anyways as I read online they usually have spaces. Ha I see why. They dont let u pay a small fee for an extra vehicle. Didn't need to keep it with us just wanted it on property. Was willing to pay. They said they dont take conversion vans im like I dont want a space. Just want to park. I help an elderly one legged man hes in the big rv. Also made it seem like a big deal didnt have reservations lol how on earth do u get a reservation if they dont answer calls or emails. Ugh They finally said ok but we have to charge you for your own space. Lmfao. Naw. Went down the road to islander rv park. Glad I did. They answer their phones right away too. Its way nicer. Super nice actually. And guess what let me pay a fee to park extra car infront of the grounds. Surprise Surprise just like smart rv parks do. Seeee crazy horse its not that hard. To be accommodating
We had a great campsite right on the beach of Lake Havasu for 5 days. The gate attendants were ALL very helpful and personable. The sites are narrow so we were fortunate to be traveling with family who were on one side of us with the opposite site vacant. It would've felt crowded otherwise so that worked out. The facilities are old which is fine but they were lacking tlc. Toilets, sinks and showers were clean but stalls and walls were dirty and skylights were broken and covered with cobwebs. Fluorescent light covers had dead bugs and needed a wipe down. Bathroom outlets were not GFCI. The roads need repaving as there were many cracks and potholes. A windstorm came through on our first full day at the campsite so the pool and hottub were not usable so we asked when it would be cleaned as we were looking forward to using all the amenities during our stay. They said the pool guy would be there the day after the storm and would open. It did not open for three full days (opened on our last evening). The clubhouse was locked so I asked if we could use it to play pool, we were told the pool table had been damaged by a previous guest and not really usable (well fix it!). We called the office and they didnt asnwer so we walked into the office to ask a question and two employees barely looked up. When we asked for help, the one who came to the desk seemed annoyed for being interrupted DURING BUSINESS HOURS! The lack of customer service was quite disappointing especially after lacking the amenities listed. We will return to Lke Havasu but we will stay elsewhere. I DO NOT recommend Crazy Horse Campground. The windstorm only lasted one day. There is no excuse for not scheduling pool service for three days.
This is a nice place to stay but sites are very close. It served our purpose well though, we didn't sit outside as we spent our time exploring southern Arizona, Mount Lemmon, mines, missile silo, National Saguaro Parks, Bisbee, Empire Ranch, Lake Patagonia and several other places.
Our stay ended in a very unfortunate and unnecessary situation. At check-in, the electrical pedestal at our assigned site was not functioning. We reported it immediately and were instructed by staff to temporarily use the power from the empty neighboring site until repairs were made. The following day, another staff member confirmed our pedestal was still not working and again directed us to continue using the adjacent outlet. On February 12, while we were packing up in preparation to depart on February 13 as scheduled, the campground manager approached our site, shut off our power, and accused us of stealing electricity from the neighboring site. We immediately explained that we were following the instructions given to us by two separate staff members. The manager explained she did not care what her staff directed us to do. Despite that explanation — and despite staff confirming they had directed us to use that outlet — law enforcement was contacted and we were required to vacate the property within 30 minutes. Emotions did rise during the interaction, which I acknowledge. However, from our perspective, we were following direct guidance from campground employees regarding a non-functioning utility at our assigned site. We were not refunded for the remaining unused nights after being required to leave. This situation appeared to stem from internal communication failures regarding site utilities and staff direction. We encourage future guests to verify utility functionality and document any instructions provided to avoid similar issues. We will never return to lake Havasu city again. No matter what they respond with to this review!
